Selecting Home Fitness Equipment

Home fitness equipment runs the gamete  from full scale home gyms and treadmills to small hand weights and ankle weights. Home fitness equipment has been on a steady rise over the last twenty years. As people have become more aware of the benefits of exercise the market has been inundated with various exercise machines for the home user.

Some of these machines have been hawked on infomercials and touted as the total solution to all your weight and fitness problems. Of course you get them home and they are less than stellar and end up collecting dust or becoming a close rack instead of improving your waistline.

But just because some of these gizmos leave much to be desired it does not mean that there are not some very worthwhile pieces of home fitness equipment on the market.

For example: For those that can afford them treadmills are a very smart investment. They tend to be very durable and they also tend to get used more than other pieces of equipment because they require the least instruction on how to use them. Treadmills offer an easy learning curve that the user can immediately start getting results with.

A mini trampoline or rebounder is another very viable investment. These little gems cost next to nothing and can be stored out of sight when not in use. They offer a good workout with low impact.

Another great piece of home fitness equipment is the Nordic Trac  cross country ski machine. This is cheaper than a treadmill but pricier than a trampoline but offers a great cardio-vascualr workout with very little impact. The drawback is that the Nordic Trac does require a bit of a learning curve and can a little hard to master thus making it more likely to end up as a close rack.

To tone your muscles you can invest a small amount of money in a set of dumbbells of varying weights and have more than enough variety to get a great workout. Add a physio-ball to the mix and you can train your core musculature as well as having a substitute bench that you can use for a host of other exercises.

You can spend a little or a lot on home fitness equipment it all depends on your budget and the space you have available. But either way you should still be able to get a great workout at home on your home fitness equipment.
